I believe one of the things that many Americans failed to understand from the 2020 election was that our institutions had already partially failed us, having been irrevocably damaged during the first Trump term.

"... love and tolerance have a place in our society." These words resonated with me. My heart is full of hate for how this man won again. The ignorance of my friends and family who voted for him causes me to avoid them for now with hopes that I get to say "I told you so" often. But at what price do I get to enjoy that moment? We will all suffer under him so we must do as you say- stand up and fight. Please know that your columns inspire me and teach me. Thank you so much for shring your wisdom.

I also did the NYC live TV circuit for 20 yrs and am sure we know a lot of the same people. You'll love to know I had to sue Trump to get my last check (I won). So what do us mere commoners do as DC burns down? We’re looking for courage and strategy. Leadership is missing. I see a bit of Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. Hint of Schiff and Swalwell. Is everyone on vacation?

I meant the young people in the general public. My kids are liberals but don’t follow politics. There are activists like David Hogg, hooray. Running for DNC.
There are never any young ppl at our Democratic Party meetings here, but I am in a very red area in the Southern Appalachians. It would take courage to be Democrat here when young b/c you would be possibly be vilified by your classmates.
Or older ppl. Sad.
