I once lived in San Diego and had a neighbor whom my neighbors and I called Ryan Ohio, never knowing his real last name. This was probably 2006 or 2007. His stay there always seemed like it was meant to be temporary, and his work interests were vague. No idea how he had any money to live alone in one of the most expensive US cities. He talked a lot about AM radio personalities and insisted that my neighbors and I listen to and read whatever media he was digesting. None of us were interested.

One night I loudly, drunkenly debated him on the patio and found myself hearing things I'd never heard anybody say before—that federal employees should be tossed to the street, that we shouldn't care for other people, only ourselves ... and basically any part of what is now the Project 2025 agenda. Nobody told us to be quiet, and I like to believe it's because one of us was on the side of decency and compassion. I was trying to find humanity where it seemed there wasn't any.

When I see these masked ICE creeps, I think of Ryan Ohio and how people like him used to be on the fringes of society and not taken all that seriously. Ryan Ohio never had a job while he was there, and one day he moved. Nobody missed him or talked about him again, but in hindsight, he was part of a real movement.

I'll bet Ryan Ohio, with his average looks and dim nature, is today cosplaying as the tough guy he isn't. And I bet you saw him in Florida. I'll also bet he still remembers my "I have a dream" coffee mug where the US map turned all blue with hot liquid.

This makes a lot of sense, and this shadow militia has been in the works for a long time. Never a shortage of clueless goons to play cop. But you are right. Love wins and we need to stay in this - but the right way. Keep outsmarting them. Thank you Noel.
