I believe a major reason the awful slurs from Trump’s Madison Square Garden MAGA rally are resonating so deeply with people - besides the genuine outrage at the overt racism - is because the behavior encapsulates everything we abhor about the last nine years.
It all crystallized in one smug insult-comic standing on stage in his privilege and his clout - saying the same awful things we have had to endure from the ‘anti-woke’ industry for the better part of a decade now.
They’ve grown so comfortable and been so rewarded that their mediocrity and meanness have become big business.
It was the comedic equivalent of the ‘man-o-sphere’ - a call back to the folks who drank Ivermectin and eschewed masks and vaccines during a deadly pandemic because they heard some washed-up quarterback talking about it on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
The fact that anyone felt comfortable spewing that sort of vitriol at Madison Square Garden - in 2024 - shows us how much work we have cut out for us after Harris/Walz ends this nonsense next week.
I always felt a comedian would help take down Trump, I just didn’t see it happening this way.
But I will take it because he will lose the election as a direct result of what happened in NYC on Sunday.
Lacking any sort of vision for the future or emphasis on anyone other than Donald and his immediate underlings, exposed how rotten an operation the Trump campaign is and has always been.
Whatever standing they maintained in the polls and amongst the electorate was a function of the enthusiasm of the ignorant bigots that have always been Trump’s hardcore base.
The undecided voters he had potentially been making inroads with due to some sort of collective demographical amnesia have woken up.
They will not vote for him and they will not be sitting this one out.
Trump is gonna hear from them at the ballot box and he won’t like the message.
There are no adults in the room over at Trump HQ; bigoted, misogynistic morons will only get you so far.
They have no desire to serve the people they hope to represent and sooner or later that will catch up with you.
You can only understand how special people are by being of service to them.
By being of service to life itself.
That lack of awareness is the defect in much of the character and subsequently the rhetoric and ‘jokes’ it inspires on the right.
They have created a culture that mocks empathy and rewards bullies.
It is not only a dangerous thing to encourage in any society hoping to bend towards justice and equanimity, it is ultimately a very self-destructive act.
A lesson Trump himself will soon learn when he loses the election next week and finally faces the full consequences of his criminality.
He is a man who is allergic to decency and cannot see or care for a world beyond his own greed, vice and malignancies.
Those sort of limitations catch up with you eventually, and they have, I believe, finally caught up with Donald Trump.
Vote Blue.

Noel, I've followed you and listened to you since you first started speaking out on Twitter about that sick asshole. Thank you so much for all you do and say to take Trump down.
Noel, this was so well articulated. Thank you for once again making me feel better. I am finally experiencing more hope than despair. I think we're all going to be ok. Thanks for all you do, on all platforms.
